Marketplace Rules
These rules explain how buying, selling and trading cards works on KARD. They are part of the Terms of Use. Dollar amounts are in US dollars.
1. What can be sold
- Physical single trading cards only, raw or graded. Sealed product, lots, and digital items are not allowed.
- Counterfeit, altered, reprinted or stolen cards, and cards you do not have the right to sell, are never allowed.
- A listing starts from a card in your collection that has a confirmed scan. If the photo you upload does not match the scan, the listing waits in a review queue and is not shown until it is checked.
2. Selling
- To sell you need a verified phone number and a Stripe account set up through KARD (Stripe verifies your identity and pays you out).
- Each listing needs the card's condition (Near Mint, Lightly Played, Moderately Played, Heavily Played or Damaged) or its grade (grader, grade and certificate number), at least two photos (front and back), a price of at least $1.00, and a shipping method. Notes about condition are welcome.
- Describe the card honestly. What the buyer receives must match the listing.
- After a sale you must ship within 3 business days. An order you do not ship in time can be cancelled and refunded.
- Your first 5 sales are held for 7 extra days before payout. This protects buyers and is lifted automatically.
3. Buying
- One checkout creates one order per seller. When you start checkout the cards are reserved for you for 30 minutes. Pay within that time or the reservation ends.
- The buyer pays the card price, shipping, any sales tax that applies, and a marketplace fee. The fee is shown before you pay. Marketplace fees fund community rewards (see the rewards page).
- If you tap Buy twice or your connection drops, you are not charged twice for the same order.
4. Shipping
- Sellers buy shipping labels in the app. Tracked shipping is required for orders of $20 or more. Under $20 a seller may choose an untracked envelope, and the buyer sees a warning.
- Insurance is required for orders of $250 or more, and signature confirmation for orders of $750 or more.
- Package cards so they arrive undamaged. Slabs and valuable cards belong in a box.
5. Inspection and payout
After the order is delivered the buyer has 3 days to inspect the card. If there is no problem, the inspection period ends and the seller is paid. If something is wrong, open a dispute before the 3 days end.
6. Disputes and refunds
- Open a dispute from the order during the inspection period and explain the problem with photos. You can message the other party in the order thread.
- Support reviews the evidence and can refund the buyer in full, refund part of the order, or release the payment to the seller.
- A counterfeit ruling bans the seller permanently.
- If a buyer disputes a payment with their bank (a chargeback), the payout for that order is frozen. If the bank rules against us, the transfer to the seller is reversed.
7. Trades
- A member can propose a card-for-card trade. The other side can accept, decline, or send one counter-offer.
- Each side pays a $2.00 trade fee. Once both sides have paid, each side prints a label and ships.
- A side that does not ship in time gets a strike and the other side is refunded.
- The same 3-day inspection and dispute rules apply to each side when its card arrives.
8. Messages and keeping it on KARD
- Each order and trade has a private message thread between the two members. Staff can read it when a dispute is open.
- Do not ask to be paid, or to pay, outside KARD. Messages that mention off-platform payment apps, phone numbers, email addresses or wallet addresses trigger a warning and may be reviewed. Payments outside KARD are not protected.
- Members can rate each other after an order. Do not trade ratings for money or favors.
9. Taxes
Where the law requires, sales tax is calculated and collected at checkout. You are responsible for your own income and other taxes on what you sell.
10. When we step in
We may remove a listing, cancel an order, hold or reverse a payout, or suspend an account to stop fraud or protect members, as set out in the Community Guidelines and the Terms of Use.
